Is Gut Balance stable at ambient temperatures?
Yes, thanks to the care and consideration undertaken when hand blending our probiotic right here in Melbourne, Gut Balance has been clinically proven to contain well over the advertised 20bn cfu per serve after 6 months at ambient temperatures.
What do each of the ProBiotic strains do?
L Rhamnosus: A wonderful ProBiotic strain that has been shown to significantly lower serum titer of allergen-specific lfE. What does that mean? This super bacteria has been shown to reduce a body’s allergic response mechanism.
Lactobacillus Paracase: Helps the body breakdown food, absorb nutrients and fight off ‘bad’ organisms that might cause disease.
Lactiplantibacillus Plantarum: Show to support dermatitis and irritable bowel symptoms as well as airway infections.
B Lactis: A powerful strain with wide ranging digestive benefits. It is the most ‘multi purpose’ of our strains and provides strength and support to the digestive function and enhances the immune response. B Lactis also supports the breakdown of body waste and aids the absorption of vitamins and minerals in the gut.
B Longum: Extensively researched, B Longum not only helps fight infections but can support the body’s nervous system, reducing the onset of anxiety. Naturally occurring in the colon but often requires supplementation it is now frequently referred to as a ‘Pyschobiotic’ due to it’s ability to influence the chemical signals sent to the brain.
Are there any fillers in this product?
No, we do not use any fillers in our products, so the dosage rates are very low.
Why is the Astragalus so important?
Astragalus is immune enhancing, adaptogenic, tonifying & cardiotonic, used for debility, chronic infections, leukopenia (low white blood cell count). It’s also a fabulous fibre source for your healthy bacteria.
What is the fibre source?
Gut Balance ProBiotic contains both soluble and insoluble fibres through the inclusion of Inulin (Chicory Root). Insoluble fibre means that it does not absorb water. It is therefore fabulous at gently adding a little bulk to your pet’s stool, drawing water to the colon making stools easy to pass. The soluble fibres, provided by Barley Malt Extract, forms a gel-like soluble fibre, helping to improve digestion and lower blood sugar, low in GI is also a great support for IBS symptoms.
How do ProBiotics actually work?
The quick answer is that they restore a healthy balance of bacteria in the gut. These live bacteria actually secrete substances that strengthen the immune system, making it very hard for harmful pathogens to develop or survive.
ProBiotic products work by introducing new, live, ‘good bacteria’ to your gut. The gut naturally contains a wide range of active bacteria that power the body’s ability to regulate immune response to all sorts of disease and infection. Such disease can be related to inflamed skin, gastro functionality as well as neurological health.
According to the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations and the World Health Organization, probiotics are defined as ‘living microorganisms, which when administered in adequate amounts confer health benefits on the host’ [Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations et al. 2006].
‘Adequate amounts’ here is key, so you should always be looking for a high CFU count and products that have been manufactured in an environment that preserves the life and strength of these fabulous microorganisms.
Are all ProBiotics the same, what should I look for?
No. The key points of difference are the strains of bacteria used, the concentration included, measured in CFU’s (Colony Forming Units) and the manufacturing process. Different strains of bacteria, when ingested and metabolised, have different beneficial impacts on the gut’s functionality.
The manufacturing process and concentration is important to ensure that the bacterial strains included are truly live and effective. NAS Gut Balance ensures this in 2 ways. Our products are made in a temperature and humidity controlled environment right here in Australia. Finished products are then stored in fridges and a 20Billion CFU ratio per 5 grams is incredibly high with significant óverage’ also accounted for meaning that the finished product is incredibly effective, hence such low dosages required.
Why does my Dog or Cat need ProBiotics?
Great health starts in the gut. A lack of friendly gut bacteria can cause several symptoms in your dog that otherwise seem to have no cause. Such symptoms could include Diarrhea, Gas, Bloating, Weight gain, Smelly breath, Tiredness, Allergies & sensitivities, Low mood, Gurgling stomach. All of these could be signs of an unhealthy balance of bacteria in your pet’s gut.
How long do ProBiotics take to work?
A recent research paper showed that when using ProBiotics for certain gut imbalances, positive results were shown from as early as 1-2 weeks. All animals and symptoms can of course however vary.
