Why use it?

Omega 3 fatty acids (Alpha-linolenic acids) are polyunsaturated fatty acids that the body cannot produce.

While there are many types of Omega 3 fatty acids, the most common are Eicosapentaenoic Acid (EPA), Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA) and Alpha-Linolenic Acid (ALA). These oils also support heart health, brain function, weight management, liver condition, fighting inflammation, promoting bone health and preventing asthma.

Omega 6 fatty acids are also polyunsaturated fatty acids and so cannot be produced by the body. The main function of Omega 6 fatty acids is to produce energy. The most common Omega 6 fatty acid is linoleic acid.

Omega 9 fatty acids are monounsaturated fatty acids. Unlike Omega 3 & 6 fatty acids, Omega 9 fatty acids can be reproduced by the body. It has been found that an increase in Omega 9 fatty acids can support our sensitivity to insulin.

Natural Animal Solutions® Omega 3, 6 & 9 Oil range contains products specifically formulated for dogs, cats and horses. They are high in EPA/DHA and have been carefully formulated to ensure that your pet’s receive the optimal ratio of Omega 3, 6 & 9.

What is ‘EPA’ and ‘DHA’?

EPA and DHA are two types of Omega 3 fatty acids called Eicosapentaenoic Acid and Docosahexaenoic Acid. ALA is a third fabulous Omega 3 Fatty acid which is found in plant sources, such as Flaxseed Oil contained in our wonderful NAS blend as well. These 3 champion fatty acids are referred to as ‘essential fatty acids’ because they are necessary for health, but not made by the body. The body uses fatty acids to maintain and create different functional molecules in the body, specifically ones related to signalling, moderating inflammation and even heart an brain function.

What age is considered puppy?

A dog is typically considered a puppy from birth until about 12-18 months of age, though this can vary depending on the breed and size of the dog. While age is a factor, “puppyhood” is also defined by developmental milestones like teething, socialization, and growth spurts. Our Puppy Omega oil targeted for growing puppies however is perfectly suitable for all ages.

Is this suitable for kittens?

Absolutely kittens may benefit from increased amounts of EPA and DHA during their growth stage.

Can dogs of all ages use this product?

Our Puppy Omega oil targeted for growing puppies however is perfectly suitable for all ages.

How strong should the product smell?

Our Puppy Omega oil is formulated with Australian Salmon Oil and Algae oil which both have very strong “seaside” smells. This is one of the reasons our product is incredibly palatable to your pets. The product should never smell pungent or rancid but will have a sharp odour.
