Hyperparathyroidism
definition:
A generalized disorder resulting from excessive secretion of parathyroid hormone (PTH); it is usually characterized by hypercalcemia (elevated levels of calcium in the blood), hypophosphatemia (phosphate depletion), and abnormal bone metabolism. Kidney stones and reduction of bone mass are common.
