The History Of Pet Food
Somewhere between 16,000 to 30,000 years ago our pets were fed raw meat and table scraps, so their food consumption was very similar to their ancestral diet. Their ancestors would hunt, feast, fast and so on until they could no longer support themselves and crossed the rainbow bridge, leaving the hunting for the next generation.
The domestication of dogs and cats became more popular through the centuries and continued to increase into the modern era. Each pets’ duties may have varied, but their main purpose was to clear rodents, hunt for food and protect the families they lived with.
Why Fresh & Raw Is Best
Most of our pets’ health issues revolve around the food they eat. Commercial “fast foods” in particular compromise their immune system, impacting on their digestive function and reduce their ability to recover from health concerns or age-related illnesses. In reality, a pets’ health can be compromised at any stage during their life.
We see hundreds of pets each year through our clinic who overcome many issues and thrive on a fresh, biologically appropriate diet coupled with natural, high quality natural supplements. Most commonly digestive health is critical to keeping pets well*.
